Nahala Johnson, widely known as Mr. Boomtown, is an acclaimed film and television director and one of
the most influential music video auteurs of his generation. Hailing from Port Arthur, Texas and based in
Houston, Johnson is recognized as one of the most prolific figures in Southern Hip-Hop industry. He has
spent over two decades redefining visual storytelling in hip-hop and Southern culture. His signature
cinematic style, compelling narratives, and unmistakable visual flair have earned him a legendary
reputation across both the music and film industries.
Before launching his directing career full-time, Nahala honed his craft as a producer and editor for the
Dallas Cowboys' Silverstar Network, contributing to shows like The Jerry Jones Show, The Coaches
Show, and content for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. In June 1999, he took a bold leap of faith,
founding Boomtown Productions to pursue his passion for directing with full force.

Since then, he has directed hundreds of iconic music videos for major artists including Gucci Mane, Pimp
C & Bun B of UGK, Scarface, Birdman, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, 50 Cent, Meek Mill, Anthony Hamilton, Yo
Gotti and many more. His visionary work earned him multiple “Director of the Year” nominations at the
BET Hip-Hop Awards (2009, 2010) and the BET Awards (2011).
Nahala’s transition into feature filmmaking has been just as impactful. His film Candy amassed over 42
million views in 2021 alone, cementing his place as a dynamic storyteller in cinema. His latest release,
WoMAN—a gripping psychological thriller—is one of the most-watched films on AMC’s ALLBLK network.
Known for his ability to deliver emotionally charged, visually stunning, and culturally relevant content, he
continues to break creative ground. Whether behind the camera of a music video, a documentary, or a
feature film, Nahala Johnson brings an edge and authenticity that resonates with audiences worldwide—
